Chase Dollander Leaves Game Against Atlanta Braves

The Colorado Rockies avoided a sweep today with a 2-1 win over the Atlanta Braves. However, during the game, they lost their top prospect as right-handed pitcher Chase Dollander left today’s start with a finger injury. Dollander was one out shy of his first career big league quality start when he left the game. He went 5.2 innings, giving up a run on two hits. He walked three and struck out four. Chase Dollander is 2-3 with a 6.48 ERA, a 1.52 WHIP, and 25 strikeouts in 25 innings. The Colorado Rockies bullpen came in, going 3.1 shutout innings, giving up one hit. They didn’t allow a walk and struck out four between Jake Bird, Seth Halvorsen, and Zach Agnos. The lone Rockies runs came from a solo home run by Brenton Doyle and an RBI groundout by Sean Bouchard that brought home Hunter Goodman.

Chase Dollander

The Rockies drafted Chase Dollander with the ninth overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft out of Tennessee. He made his debut within the organization last season. In 17 starts between High-A and Double-A, he went 6-2 with a 2.59 ERA, a 1.20 WHIP, and 169 strikeouts in 118 innings. At Double-A, he made nine starts, going 2-1 with a 2.25 ERA, a 1.10 WHIP, and 58 strikeouts in 48 innings. In his lone postseason start with the Double-A Hartford Yard Goats, he went five innings. Dollander gave up one run on five hits. He walked four and struck out four. This season at Triple-A, he made one start, going four innings, giving up one run on six hits. He walked two and struck out five.
