Boston Red Sox Trade Two Pitchers

Red Sox Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

The Rule 5 draft is December 10, today is the deadline to lock the 40-man roster. That means teams must place players on the 40-man roster when those players become eligible for selection in the Rule 5 draft. Some notable names for the Red Sox are Miguel Bleis, Allan Castro, Isaac Coffey, Shane Drohan, Yordanny Monegro, David Sandlin, Phillip Sikes, and Noah Song. Not all prospects will be taken, but teams need to add any players who fear being selected in the Rule 5 draft to the 40-man roster. Two notable names are Bleis and Sandlin.

Today the Red Sox traded right-handed pitcher Luis Guerrero to the Tampa Bay Rays for infielder Tristan Gray. The Red Sox added Gray to the 40-man roster. They then designated Nathaniel Lowe for assignment. The other trade was left-handed pitcher Chris Murphy, who was traded to the Chicago White Sox for a catcher. That opens another 40-man spot. The Red Sox added Sandlin to the 40-man roster.
