Red Sox Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

The Boston Red Sox start a three-game series in Arizona tonight against the Diamondbacks. The Red Sox won their series against the Cleveland Guardians despite being outscored 19-18. The Red Sox, ahead of tonight’s game, placed right-handed pitcher Jordan Hicks on the injured list with a shoulder issue. Boston is recalling left-handed pitcher Chris Murphy to replace Hicks.

Jordan Hicks

Hicks, since being acquired by the Red Sox, is 1-2 in 21 games. He has a save, posting an 8.20 ERA, a 1.98 WHIP, and 15 strikeouts in 18.2 innings. Hicks made 13 appearances for the Giants, including nine starts, before Boston acquired him. He went 1-5 with a 1.54 WHIP and 43 strikeouts in 48.2 innings. Hicks appeared in two games at Triple-A Worcester after the Red Sox acquired him. He posted a 10.80 ERA, a 3.60 WHIP, and had two strikeouts in 1.2 innings.

Chris Murphy

Murphy has appeared in 14 games for the Red Sox this season, going 2-0 with a 3.05 ERA, a 1.07 WHIP, and 19 strikeouts in 20.2 innings. He has also pitched at High-A, Double-A, and Triple-A after he missed the 2024 season. In 18 games with five of those coming as starts across the three levels, he is 1-0. Murphy posts a 2.93 ERA, a 1.41 WHIP, and 29 strikeouts in 27.2 innings.
