The Boston Red Sox are getting set for their rivalry weekend matchup against the New York Yankees coming off a sweep of the Miami Marlins while the Yankees are coming off being swept. The Red Sox in their last series matchup with the Yankees took two out of three outscoring them 18-15, and after the first game, they outscored them 17-7. Since that Friday night game, the Yankees are 4-13. The Red Sox announced today that Chris Martin would be heading to the injured list with elbow inflammation while recalling Cam Booser from Triple-A Worcester.

Red Sox Moves By The Numbers

RHP – Chris Martin 

Martin is in his second season with the Red Sox, last season in 55 games he went 4-1 with a 1.05 ERA, a 2.44 FIP, a 1.03 WHIP, a 1.4 BB/9, and an 8.1 K/9 in 51.1 innings. This season he has appeared in 26 games going 2-1 with a 3.42 ERA, a 3.39 FIP, a 1.03 WHIP, a 0.7 BB/9, and a 9.9 K/9 in 26.1 innings. This is his second stint in the injured list, since returning he’s appearances in five games not recording a decision with a 0.00 ERA, a 0.80 WHIP, and five strikeouts in five innings. 

LHP – Cam Booser 

Booser had been a feel-good story in his first appearance with the Red Sox making 26 appearances going 1-2 with a 3.21 ERA, a 2.82 FIP, a 1.14 WHIP, a 1.9 BB/9, and a 10.6 K/9 in 28 innings. Before being called up he made four appearances at Worcester going 2-0 with a 2.70 ERA, a 0.60 WHIP, a 1.4 BB/9, and a 20.3 K/9 in 6.2 innings. Since being sent down he’s appeared in two games going 0-2 with a 19.31 ERA, a 3.86 WHIP, and three strikeouts in 2.1 innings.
