The Boston Red Sox kick off the second half tonight with a three-game series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. This will be a big series as the Red Sox hold a playoff spot and will take on one of the favorites to compete for the World Series. Mata suffered right elbow inflammation on Sunday so he will land on the 15-day injured list. 

RHP – Bryan Mata

Mata has been with the Red Sox system since 2016 appearing in 107 games with 101 of those coming as starts he is 29-27 with a 3.46 ERA, a 1.39 WHIP, a 4.6 BB/9, and a 9.2 K/9 in 447 innings. This season he’s played for the Red Sox rookie league team, High-A Greenville, Double-A Portland, and Triple-A Worcester appearing in ten games with seven of those coming as starts going 0-1 with a 4.50 ERA, a 1.41 WHIP, a 3.3 BB/9, and a 7.4 K/9 in 22 innings. At Worcester he’s played in five games with two of those coming as starts, he hasn’t recorded a decision with a 4.50 ERA, a 1.30 WHIP, a 5.4 BB/9, and a 9.0 K/9 in ten innings.
