The Boston Red Sox are off today as they head to San Francisco for a three-game series against the Giants and old teammate Rafael Devers. The Red Sox won their recent series against the Seattle Mariners, even though the Mariners outscored them 9-5 and out-hit them 19-9. Today, the team announced that they will demote rookie second baseman Kristian Campbell to Triple-A Worcester. Campbell started the season hitting .301 with a .902 OPS. He had four home runs, 12 RBI, and 18 runs scored up until April 30th. Since then, he has posted a .159 batting average and a 465 OPS. He has two home runs, nine RBI, and six runs scored.

They will likely announce the corresponding move tomorrow, and it’s expected to be the activation of Wilyer Abreu from the injured list.. Abreu this season is hitting .245 with a .792 OPS. He has eight doubles, 13 home runs, 32 RBI, 28 runs scored, four stolen bases, and 24 walks. Abreu, in his rehab stint, has gone 1-6 with an RBI, a run scored, and a walk. Abreu will likely play tonight for Worcester, then join the team in San Francisco.

Kristian Campbell

The Red Sox drafted Campbell in the fourth round of the 2023 MLB Draft. In two minor league seasons, he’s played in 137 games, hitting .327 with a .985 OPS. He has 36 doubles, five triples, 21 home runs, 82 RBI, 103 runs scored, 27 stolen bases, and 84 walks.

Wilyer Abreu

In 224 games with the Red Sox, he hit .258 with a .793 OPS. He has 47 doubles, two triples, 30 home runs, 104 RBI, 97 runs scored, 15 stolen bases, and 73 walks. He finished sixth in Rookie of the Year in 2024 and won a Gold Glove.
