Red Sox Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

The Boston Red Sox are off today following a sweep at the hands of the Detroit Tigers. Two of those losses came via walkoff. The other loss in the series was a 14-2 defeat. Tanner Houck gave up 11 earned runs on nine hits in 2.1 innings. That was Houck’s second start this season. He gave up 11 earned runs in that game. During that outing, he went 2.1 innings as well. The Red Sox have now placed him on the 15-day injured list with a right flexor pronator strain. They recalled Cooper Criswell from Triple-A Worcester.

Houck this season is 0-3. He has a 8.04 ERA, a 6.13 FIP, a 1.70 WHIP, and 32 strikeouts in 43.2 innings. Criswell has appeared in three games for the Red Sox this season. He’s posting a 10.38 ERA, a 6.80 FIP, and a 2.54 WHIP; he hasn’t recorded a strikeout in 4.1 innings. In five appearances, four coming as starts at Worcester, going 2-1. He has a 1.99 ERA, a 0.97 WHIP, and 31 strikeouts in 22.2 innings.

Tanner Houck

Last season, Houck had a breakout year, making 30 starts. He went 9-10 with a 3.12 ERA, a 3.32 FIP, a 1.14 WHIP, and 154 strikeouts in 178.2 innings. He was an All-Star as well. He’s appeared in 113 career games, with 80 of those coming as starts. Houck is 24-32 with a 3.97 ERA, a 3.71 FIP, a 1.24 WHIP, and 449 strikeouts in 474.1 innings.

Cooper Criswell

Criswell last season appeared in 26 games, with 18 of those coming as starts. He went 6-5 with a 4.08 ERA, a 4.15 FIP, a 1.35 WHIP, and 73 strikeouts in 99.1 innings. In his career, he’s appeared in 41 career games with 20 of those coming as starts. He is 7-7 with a 4.78 ERA, a 4.44 FIP, a 1.45 WHIP, and 104 strikeouts in 141.1 innings.
