The Boston Red Sox play a doubleheader against the Cleveland Guardians today after last night’s game was postponed. Tanner Houck gets the ball for the Red Sox in the first game. Ben Lively will oppose Houck. In the nightcap, Walker Buehler goes for Boston against Doug Nikhazy. Due to the doubleheader, the roster expands to 27 for today and the Red Sox have selected right-handed pitcher Cooper Criswell to fill that spot. Criswell this season in three games with Boston posts a 10.38 ERA, and a 2.54 WHIP. In three games at Worcester, he has a 0.82 ERA, 0.91 WHIP, and 16 strikeouts in 11 innings.

Cooper Criswell

Criswell made 26 appearances, 18 of which were starts last season. He went 6-5 with a 4.08 ERA, a 1.35 WHIP, and 73 strikeouts in 99.1 innings. Criswell also made five starts in Worcester, going 2-2 with a 1.40 ERA, a 1.13 WHIP, and 23 strikeouts in 25.2 innings. In 41 career big league games, 20 of those coming as starts. Criswell has gone 7-7 with a 4.78 ERA, a 1.45 WHIP, and 104 strikeouts in 141.1 innings. In 94 career minor league games, he’s 22-25 with a 4.14 ERA, a 1.27 WHIP, and 415 strikeouts in 410.2 innings.
