The Boston Red Sox are currently taking on the Chicago Cubs on Sunday Night Baseball, they currently are tied 4-4 (at the time of publishing) and are looking for their fourth series win out of nine series to start 2024. The one thing the Red Sox are currently dealing with is an abundance of injuries as they are without Brayan Bello, Isaiah Campbell, Lucas Giolito, Nick Pivetta, Garrett Whitlock, Tyler Heineman, Triston Casas, Romy Gonzalez, Vaughn Grissom, and Trevor Story; Story and Giolito will not be back this season, they also have Liam Hendriks on the injured list but he is expected to return by the trade deadline and could provide some depth to the bullpen. Over the weekend they announced that they had acquired Garrett Cooper from the Cubs to help fill the void of losing Casas among calling up Naoyuki Uwasawa which led to Joely Rodriguez being designated for assignment.
