Boston Red Sox First Half Minor League First Team

The second half of the minor league baseball season kicked off last night, so we figured, why not take a look back at who performed well in the first half throughout the Red Sox organization?

C: Kleyver Salazar – Salem RidgeYaks

Salazar, in 49 games at Salem in the first half, hit .243 with a .743 OPS. He had ten doubles, five home runs, 26 RBI, 25 runs scored, and four stolen bases.

1B: Nick Sogard – Worcester Red Sox

Sogard, in 36 games at Worcester, hit .269 with a .871 OPS. He had nine doubles, five home runs, 23 RBI, 27 runs scored, and four stolen bases.

2B: Mason White – Greenville Drive

White in 52 games hit .275 with a .904 OPS. He has 11 doubles, three triples, ten home runs, 32 RBI, and 27 runs scored.

3B: Jack Winnay – Greenville Drive

Winnay, in 56 games, hit .255 with a .892 OPS. He had five doubles, 11 home runs, 31 RBI, and 43 runs scored.

SS: Franklin Arias – Portland Sea Dogs

The Red Sox’s top prospect in 57 games hit .315 with a .974 OPS. He had 13 doubles, a triple, 14 home runs, 36 RBI, 38 runs scored, and five stolen bases.

OF: Will Turner – Portland Sea Dogs

Turner, in 55 games, hit .202 with a .799 OPS. He had five doubles, a triple, nine home runs, 21 RBI, 40 runs scored, and 13 stolen bases.

OF: Yophery Rodriguez – Greenville Drive

Rodriguez, in 54 games, hit .245 with a .786 OPS. He had 13 doubles, 11 home runs, 27 RBI, 33 runs scored, and a stolen base.

OF: Andrews Opata – Salem RidgeYaks

Opata, in 54 games, hit .241 with a .730 OPS. He has eight doubles, two triples, four home runs, 22 RBI, 38 runs scored, and 29 stolen bases.

DH: Johanfran Garcia – Portand Sea Dogs

Garcia has been impressive. In 40 games, he hit .305 with a .899 OPS. He has six doubles, 11 home runs, 33 RBI, 23 runs scored, and two stolen bases.

RHP: Barrett Morgan – Salem RidgeYaks

Morgan, in his first professional season, has made 11 appearances with eight coming as starts. He’s 3-1 with a 2.63 ERA, a 0.95 WHIP, and 40 strikeouts in 41 innings.

LHP: Jake Bennett – Worcester Red Sox

Bennett, before he was called up, made nine starts. He went 3-2 with a 1.60 ERA, a 1.01 WHIP, and 41 strikeouts in 39.1 innings.

RP: Tommy Kahnle – Worcester Red Sox

Kahnle, in his time with Worcester, made 18 appearances. He went 0-1 with a 1.40 ERA, five saves, a 1.29 WHIP, and 21 strikeouts in 19.1 innings.
