Boston Red Sox Down on the Farm 4/2-4/7

The Boston Red Sox Triple-A affiliate in Worcester took on the Buffalo Bisons who are the affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays and they only ended up playing five games due to a nor’easter that hit the East Coast and the Red Sox won one of those games. Their Double-A affiliate started their season and took on the Colorado Rockies Double-A affiliate the Hartford Yard Goats, and due to that same storm, they only played one game and lost that one game 1-0. The High-A affiliate the Greenville Drive took on the Greensboro Grasshoppers dropping two of their three games. Finally, their Single-A affiliate the Salem Red Sox took on the Carolina Mudcats and dropped all three games.

SS – Marcelo Mayer – Portland Sea Dogs

Mayer in the lone game went 1-4 with a double.

OF – Roman Anthony – Portland Sea Dogs

Anthony went 2-4 in the lone game with two strikeouts.

C – Kyle Teel – Portland Sea Dogs

Teel went 0-4 in Portland’s only game with three strikeouts.

OF/SS – Ceddanne Rafaela – Boston Red Sox

Rafaela this week went 3-18 with a triple, four RBI, three runs scored, a stolen base, and two walks. This season with the Red Sox he is hitting .233 with a .686 OPS; he has five RBI, and six runs scored.

2B – Nick Yorke – Portland Sea Dogs

Yorke in Portland’s lone game went 0-4 with three strikeouts.

OF – Miguel Bleis – Salem Red Sox

Bleis in the first three games of the season went 2-10 with a double, two RBI, two runs scored, four walks, and a stolen base.

RHP – Wikelman Gonzalez – Portland Sea Dogs

Gonzalez didn’t start in the only Portland game.

RHP – Richard Fitts – Worcester Red Sox

Fitts made his first start of the season for Triple-A Worcester going 4.1 innings, he allowed one run, it was unearned on six hits; he walked two and struck out three.

SS/2B – Mikey Romero – Greenville Drive

Romero is on the 7-day injured list.

RHP – Luis Perales – Greenville Drive

Perales got the ball on Opening Day for the Drive and he struggled only going one inning giving up three runs on three hits; he walked two and struck out three.

This coming week the Red Sox Triple-A affiliate will take on the Syracuse Mets who are the Triple-A affiliate of the New York Mets and they feature the 62nd ranked prospect and the Mets third ranked prospect infielder Luisangel Acuna.
