The Baltimore Orioles will wrap up their four-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays today looking to secure their fourth consecutive series win. The Orioles took the first game 7-2 then the second game 10-1 behind a brilliant pitching performance from Corbin Burnes, then last night they lost on a walk-off by the Blue Jays 3-2. Today with first pitch set for 1:07 PM they have called up their eighth-ranked prospect by ITD RHP Cade Povich from Triple-A Norfolk to make his MLB debut against Yusei Kikuchi for Toronto. The corresponding move to bring up Povich means LHP Nick Vespi is being optioned to Triple-A after he was called up on Monday.

Baltimore Orioles Roster Moves By The Numbers

RHP – Cade Povich

Povich was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the third round of the 2021 MLB Draft out of Nebraska. He was acquired by the Orioles in August of 2022 in the Jorge Lopez trade. Since joining the Orioles organization he has made 47 appearances with 46 of those coming as starts, he is 17-13 with a 4.48 ERA, a 1.24 WHIP, and 287 strikeouts in 218.2 innings. This season at Norfolk he’s made 11 starts going 5-1 with a 3.18 ERA, a 1.11 WHIP, and 75 strikeouts in 56.2 innings.

LHP – Nick Vespi

Vespi got the call on Monday and since then he made one appearance going one scoreless inning and giving up one hit; he didn’t issue a walk or record a strikeout. He also made an appearance in an earlier stint with the Orioles posting the same line in that game as well. At Norfolk this season he is 2-1 in 13 appearances with a 2.96 ERA, a 1.43 WHIP, and 30 strikeouts in 24.1 innings.
