Baltimore Orioles Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

The Baltimore Orioles and New York Yankees play the second game of their series tonight. The Orioles picked up a 4-3 win last night to start the series off. The win snapped a three-game losing streak after they were swept over the weekend by the Detroit Tigers. Kyle Gibson makes his return tonight, and he will get the ball as he faces off against Carlos Rodón tonight. To make room on the roster for Gibson, Baltimore is optioning right-handed pitcher Kade Strowd to Triple-A Norfolk. Gibson, in three rehab starts, went 1-1 with a 3.75 ERA, a 1.00 WHIP, and 13 strikeouts in 12 innings. Strowd didn’t pitch during his time in Baltimore. He made eight appearances this season at Triple-A Norfolk, going 1-1 with an 8.10 ERA, a 1.80 WHIP, and 18 strikeouts in ten innings.

Kyle Gibson

Gibson last season made 30 starts for the St. Louis Cardinals, going 8-8 with a 3.75 ERA, a 1.35 WHIP, and 151 strikeouts in 169.2 innings. He’s made 330 career appearances in the big leagues, with 324 of those coming as starts. He is 112-108 with a 4.52 ERA, a 1.38 WHIP, and 1510 strikeouts in 1865.2 innings.

Kade Strowd

Strowd has spent six seasons in the Orioles organization, making 136 appearances with three of those coming as starts, going 15-9 with a 5.15 ERA, a 1.49 WHIP, and 244 strikeouts in 188.2 innings. Last season, at Triple-A and Double-A, he made 46 appearances, going 6-3 with a 5.44 ERA, a 1.58 WHIP, and 71 strikeouts in 51.1 innings.
