Atlanta Braves Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

The Atlanta Braves picked up a 12-0 win over the Washington Nationals last night. Today they wrap up their short two-game series against the Nationals and with the win and a New York Mets loss they are now tied for the final Wild Card spot with two and a half weeks left. The Braves suffered a loss today as they placed Reynaldo Lopez on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation, to replace him they have recalled Daysbel Hernandez. Another move was the Braves selecting the contract of infielder Cavan Biggio and to make room on the roster they optioned outfielder Luke Williams to Triple-A Gwinnett.

RHP – Reynaldo Lopez

Lopez in his first season with Atlanta has had a great season, he is 8-5 with a 2.03 ERA, a 3.08 FIP, a 1.15 WHIP, a 2.9 BB/9, and a 9.6 K/9 in 128.2 innings. In his career, he has made 265 appearances with 121 of those coming as starts going 47-54 with a 3.95 ERA, a 4.24 FIP, a 1.28 WHIP, a 3.2 BB/9, and an 8.4 K/9 in 808.1 innings.

RHP – Daysbel Hernandez

Hernandez made his debut with the Braves last season appearing in four games going 1-0 with a 7.36 ERA, a 5.98 FIP, a 2.46 WHIP, a 7.4 BB/9, and a 14.7 K/9 in 3.2 innings. This season he’s made ten appearances going 2-0 with a 0.82 ERA, a 2.27 FIP, a 1.18 WHIP, a 4.9 BB/9, and an 11.5 K/9 in 11 innings. At Gwinnett this season he’s appeared in 33 games going 4-2 with a 2.59 ERA, a 1.44 WHIP, a 5.4 BB/9, and an 11.2 K/9 in 41.2 innings.

INF – Cavan Biggio

Biggio is on his third team this season with this call-up but has appeared in four organizations. In Triple-A he’s played in 13 games hitting .167 with a .710 OPS; he has a double, two home runs, seven RBI, eight runs scored, two stolen bases, and 17 walks. Last night was his first Triple-A game for the Braves he went 1-5 with a run and an RBI. In the big leagues this season he’s played in 74 games hitting .197 with a .622 OPS; he has five doubles, five home runs, 19 RBI, 26 runs scored, two stolen bases, and 24 walks.

OF – Luke Williams

 Williams this season with Atlanta has played in 34 games hitting .196 with a .535 OPS; he had three doubles, four RBI, eight runs scored, three stolen bases, and four walks. At Gwinnett he’s played in 46 games hitting .287 with a .857 OPS; he had 16 doubles, eight home runs, 34 RBI, 27 runs scored, 15 stolen bases, and 17 walks.
