Atlanta Braves Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

The Atlanta Braves today play a doubleheader against the Miami Marlins as part of their five-game series. Due to today being a doubleheader the roster expands to 27. The Braves made a flurry of roster moves first activating third baseman Vidal Bruján whom they claimed off waivers from the Baltimore Orioles. They also recalled right-handed pitcher Hurston Waldrep fro Triple-A Gwinnett. Waldrep will start game one of the doubleheader. The Braves also recalled right-handed pitcher Hunter Stratton from Triple-A Gwinnett. To make room on the roster they optioned shortstop Jonathan Ornelas and left-handed pitcher Dylan Dodd to Gwinnett.

Vidal Bruján 

Bruján this season appeared in 36 games for the Chicago Cubs, hitting .222 with a .523 OPS. He had three doubles, three RBI, six runs scored, two stolen bases, and a walk. In his lone game with Baltimore, he went 1-1. He also played in three games at Triple-A Iowa for the Cubs, hitting .308 with a .692 OPS. He had a double and a stolen base. 

Hurston Waldrep

Waldrep, this season, in one game with the Braves, picked up a win, going 5.2 innings, giving up a run on three hits. He walked two and struck out four. In 19 starts at Triple-A, he went 7-8 with a 4.42 ERA, a 1.47 WHIP, and 92 strikeouts in 91.2 innings. 

Hunter Stratton

Stratton this season has pitched in two games for the Braves, he hasn’t allowed a run on three hits in three innings of work. He’s walked two and struck out two. 

Jonathan Ornelas

Ornelas in one game for the Braves went 2-4 with a run scored. In 49 games at Gwinnett, he’s hitting .201 with a .645 OPS. He has a double, two triples, six home runs, 18 RBI, 21 runs scored, three stolen bases, and 24 walks. 

Dylan Dodd

Dodd in 16 games for Atlanta posted a 4.42 ERA, a 0.87 WHIP, and 16 strikeouts in 18.1 innings. In 22 games at Triple-A, he is 2-1 with a 4.63 ERA, a 1.29 WHIP, and 32 strikeouts in 23.1 innings.
