Atlanta Braves & Colorado Rockies Make A Trade

The Atlanta Braves today acquired reliever Tyler Kinley from the Colorado Rockies in exchange for right-handed pitcher Austin Smith. This season, Kinley in 49 games is 1-3. He posted a 5.66 ERA, a 4.14 FIP, a 1.45 WHIP, and 51 strikeouts in 47.2 innings. Smith, in 29 appearances between High-A and Double-A this season, is 0-4. He posts a 4.31 ERA, a 1.28 WHIP, and 34 strikeouts in 31.1 innings.

Tyler Kinley

The Miami Marlins drafted Kinley in the 16th round of the 2013 MLB Draft. He’s pitched eight seasons in the big leagues, making 318 appearances, going 14-14. He has 21 saves with a 5.08 ERA, a 4.41 FIP, a 1.40 WHIP, and 320 strikeouts in 306.1 innings. His best season came in 2022, when in 25 appearances he went 1-1 with a 0.75 ERA, a 1.74 FIP, a 1.13 WHIP, and 27 strikeouts in 24 innings.

Austin Smith

The Braves drafted Smith in the 18th round of the 2021 MLB Draft. Smith is in his fifth minor league season. In 107 appearances, with one of those coming as a start, he is 3-10 with a 5.10 ERA, a 1.42 WHIP, and 131 strikeouts in 114.2 innings.
