The Arizona Diamondbacks are coming off a 2-2 tie with the San Diego Padres yesterday. Today they are taking on the Colorado Rockies and will send Merrill Kelly to the mound making his second start of the spring, he is 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA, a 0.00 WHIP, and three strikeouts in two innings. The Diamondbacks looking to get back to the postseason this season and finish what they started last year when they surprised the league and represented the National League in the World Series. They eventually lost to the Texas Rangers, but they have been quietly adding pieces to the roster to help them finish the job this season, late yesterday they added a 16-year-old free agent from Venezuela who will be fun to watch over the next few years as he works his way through the Minors. RHP – Reinel Caicedo

The Diamondbacks signed Free Agent Caicedo to a minor-league contract the Six Foot Two 190-pound Right-Hand pitcher from Maracaibo, Venezuela, and is 16 years old. He will turn 17 on 3/22/24 so this kid will be a name to keep an eye on over the next few years.

RHP – John Matthews

Matthews was assigned to the Arizona Diamondbacks yesterday. Matthews is a 26-year-old six-foot-one 191-pound right-hand pitcher. He last pitched for the Texas Rangers last year. Matthews appeared in one game for the Rangers last year recording one out, walking one batter on five total pitches. On December 6th of this year, Matthews was Drafted by the Reno Aces.
