The Arizona Diamondbacks are getting set for game one of the World Series tonight against the Texas Rangers, which features a pitching matchup of Zac Gallen (2-2, 5.24 ERA) for Arizona against Nathan Eovaldi (4-0, 2.42 ERA). The Diamondbacks had a tough road to get to the Fall Classic; first, they swept the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Wild Card round, then they swept the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLDS, leading to a showdown against the Philadelphia Phillies in the NLCS. The Diamondbacks lost the first two in Philadelphia before heading home to Arizona for Games three, four, and five; they would win two of the three, returning to Philadelphia down 3-2 in the best-of-seven series, and they won games six and seven shocking the Phillies at their ballpark to get to their first World Series since 2001. Before game one tonight, the Diamondbacks announced the following roster moves.

  • 2B Jace Peterson Activated to Roster.
  • RHP Slade Cecconi was Removed from the Roster.

Roster Moves By The Numbers

Jace Peterson

This season, Peterson played in 133 games between the Oakland A’s and Diamondbacks, and he slashed .211/.304/.307 with a .611 OPS; he had ten doubles, four triples, six home runs, 37 RBI, 35 runs scored, 15 stolen bases, and 47 walks. With Arizona, he slashed .183/.276/.258 with a .534 OPS; he had three doubles, two triples, nine RBI, five runs scored, four stolen bases, and 11 walks. In this postseason, he only has appeared in the NLDS, and he went 0-1 in his lone plate appearance.

Slade Cecconi

Cecconi has pitched in Triple-A and the Majors this season. In Triple-A, he made 23 starts, going 5-9 with a 6.11 ERA, a 1.37 WHIP, a 1.9 HR/9, a 2.8 BB/9, and a 9.1 K/9. With Arizona, he made seven appearances, with four being starts; he went 0-1 with a 4.33 ERA, a 4.37 FIP, a 1.14 WHIP, a 1.3 HR/9, a 1.3 BB/9, and a 6.7 K/9. He pitched in only the NLCS for the Diamondbacks and made two appearances, going 0-0 with a 0.00 ERA in two innings of work; he only gave up two hits and struck out one to the six batters he faced.
