A Boston Red Sox Prospect Named Player of the Week

Last week, the Boston Red Sox minor league affiliates went 11-13 and were outscored 154-134. Their Triple-A affiliate the Worcester Red Sox went 3-3 and outscored their opponent 43-38. Their Double-A affiliate the Portland Sea Dogs went 3-3 and were outscored 39-38. High-A Greenville had the best week going 1-5 and were outscored 43-20. Finally, the Single-A affiliate the Salem Red Sox won their series taking four of the six games but were outscored by their opponent 34-33.

The prospect who earned player of the week honors was LHP Noah Dean who was named Pitcher of the Week for the Carolina League playing for the Salem Red Sox. He got the start on Sunday going five shutout innings, he didn’t allow a hit either; he walked one and struck out eight. This season through nine appearances with seven of those coming as starts he is 0-2 with a 4.28 ERA, a 1.04 WHIP, and 45 strikeouts in 33.2 innings.

LHP Noah Dean Career

Dean was drafted by the Red Sox in the fifth round of the 2022 MLB Draft out of Old Dominion University. He finished his college career making 42 appearances going 4-3 with a 3.93 ERA, a 1.15 WHIP, and 102 strikeouts in 52.2 innings. He played for two teams in the Summer of 2022 with Keene of the New England Collegiate Baseball League and Harwich of the Cape Cod Baseball League, he combined between the two to make four appearances with three of those coming as starts going 0-2 with an 11.37 ERA, a 2.05 WHIP, and 13 strikeouts in 6.1 innings. In his first season with the Red Sox organization last season he pitched at Single-A Salem making 21 appearances with 17 of those coming as starts, he went 2-8 with a 6.29 ERA, a 1.96 WHIP, and 86 strikeouts in 63 innings.
