Two Boston Red Sox Prospects Named to Futures Game

The Boston Red Sox have three players in the Top 100 ranked by ITD, they are Marcelo Mayer, Roman Anthony, and Kyle Teel. Two of those three players will be attending the Futures Game and they are Mayer and Teel; Anthony will also be there, and he will be taking part in the Futures Game Showcase. The Game will take place on Saturday, July 13th at 4:10 PM EST.

SS – Marcelo Mayer

Mayer is the eighth-ranked prospect by ITD for June. Mayer is in his fourth season in the Red Sox system after he was drafted fourth overall in the 2021 MLB Draft. To this point he’s played in 263 games hitting .362 with a .827 OPS; he has 78 doubles, five triples, 36 home runs, 160 RBI, 183 runs scored, 46 stolen bases, and 142 walks. This season at Double-A Portland in 68 games he is hitting .307 (1st in Eastern League) with a .850 OPS (6th in Eastern League); he has 25 doubles (1st in Eastern League), seven home runs, 36 RBI, 54 runs scored (1st in Eastern League), 13 stolen bases, and 27 walks.

C – Kyle Teel

Teel is the 28th-ranked prospect by ITD for June. Teel is in his second season in the Red Sox farm system after the Red Sox selected him 14th overall in last season’s MLB draft. In his time in the Red Sox system, he’s wasted no time making the jump playing in 86 games across four levels hitting .319 with a .890 OPS; he has 20 doubles, ten home runs, 70 RBI, 66 runs scored, eight stolen bases, and 52 walks. This season at Double-A Portland, he’s played in 60 games hitting .302 (3rd in Eastern League) with a .854 OPS (5th in Eastern League); he has 14 doubles, eight home runs, 48 RBI (4th in Eastern League), 51 runs scored (2nd in Eastern League), five stolen bases, and 31 walks.
