The Boston Red Sox started a three-game series against the Minnesota Twins tonight. They lead 1-0 thanks to an Alex Bregman solo home run. On a ground ball in the bottom of the second, Casas ran to first base and stepped on the base awkwardly. Casas was carted off the field. Romy Gonzalez pinch ran for Casas. Casas this season has had a rough start, hitting .182 with a .580 OPS. He has three doubles, three home runs, 11 RBI, five runs scored, and 11 walks.

This is Casas’ fourth season with the Red Sox. The same team that drafted him 26th overall in the 2018 MLB draft. He’s a career .241 hitter with a .800 OPS. He has 33 doubles, two triples, 45 home runs, 120 RBI, 110 runs scored, 130 walks, and a stolen base. Last season, Casas dealt with a rib injury. The injury limited him to 63 games in which he hit .241 with a .799 OPS. He had eight doubles, 13 home runs, 32 RBI, 28 runs scored, and 30 walks. Casas finished third in Rookie of the Year voting in 2023, in which he hit .263 with a .856 OPS. He had 21 doubles, two triples, 24 home runs, 65 RBI, 66 runs scored, and 70 walks.
