Toronto Blue Jays Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

The Toronto Blue Jays are off today, and they will take on the Atlanta Braves tomorrow as they start a three-game weekend series. This season hasn’t gone exactly as planned for the Blue Jays as they sit 14 games out of first place in the American League East and are in last place, they also trail in the American League Wild Card by nine games. They are coming off being swept by the Philadelphia Phillies in a short two-game series in which they were outscored 14-11 in those two games which brings them to 4-6 in their last ten, but they outscored their opponent over that stretch 45-33. Despite today being an off day, the Blue Jays were active as they claimed RHP Emmanuel Ramirez off waivers from the Miami Marlins and optioned him to Triple-A Buffalo, to allow the acquisition of Ramirez they have designated RHP Jose Cuas for assignment.

RHP – Emmanuel Ramirez

Ramirez made his debut this season, he appeared in 15 games going 0-1 with a 6.97 ERA, a 1.40 WHIP, a 3.5 BB/9, and a 9.1 K/9 in 20.2 innings. At Triple-A Jacksonville he appeared in 25 games going 4-2 with a 3.76 ERA, a 1.16 WHIP, a 3.5 BB/9, and an 11.3 K/9 in 40.2 innings.

RHP – Jose Cuas

This is Cuas’ second time on waivers this season, the Blue Jays claimed him on June 23rd from the Chicago Cubs. Between the two teams this season he made 13 appearances posting a 7.71 ERA, a 1.78 WHIP, a 5.5 BB/9, and a 9.4 K/9 in 16.1 innings. With Toronto, he appeared in four games posting a 9.00 ERA, a 2.33 WHIP, a 12.0 BB/9, and a 9.0 K/9 in three innings. At Buffalo, he’s appeared in 16 games going 1-1 with a 6.89 ERA, a 1.85 WHIP, a 4.0 BB/9, and a 9.2 K/9 in 15.2 innings.
