The Toronto Blue Jays will wrap up their three-game series against the Washington Nationals today looking for a series win after they dropped the first game 9-3 and won the second game yesterday 6-3 behind a Kevin Kiermaier home run in his first game back since coming off the injured list, they were also led by two hit days from Daulton Varsho and Danny Jansen. Today they have called up Alek Manoah to make his return, he will be opposed by Mackenzie Gore for the Nationals.

Alek Manoah By The Numbers 

Manoah was drafted by the Blue Jays with the 11th overall pick in the 2019 MLB draft. He made his debut on May 27, 2021, going six shutout innings, he allowed two hits while walking two and striking out seven. He finished that season going 9-2 with a 3.22 ERA, a 3.80 FIP, a 1.04 WHIP, and 127 strikeouts in 111.2 innings; he would finish eighth in Rookie of the Year voting. In 2022 he had his breakout season finishing third in Cy Young voting going 16-7 with a 2.24 ERA, a 3.35 FIP, a 0.99 WHIP, and 180 strikeouts in 196.2 innings; he was an All-Star and finished 17th in MVP voting. In 2023 he regressed going 3-9 with a 5.87 ERA, a 6.01 FIP, a 1.74 WHIP, and 79 strikeouts in 87.1 innings. He started this season in Triple-A Buffalo and spent time also at Single-A Dunedin going 0-2 combined with an 8.69 ERA, a 1.98 WHIP, and 28 strikeouts in 19.2 innings. His last start came on Tuesday he went six innings allowing one run on two hits; he walked two and struck out 12.
