Toronto Blue Jays Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

The Toronto Blue Jays suffered a 9-5 loss to the Baltimore Orioles yesterday. They dropped to 1-2 to start the 2025 campaign. Toronto also lost Max Scherzer yesterday as he left the game after 45 pitches with right lat soreness. They wrap up their series with the Orioles this afternoon with Chris Bassitt on the mount facing Tomoyuki Sugano for the Orioles. Ahead of today’s game, the Blue Jays made the following roster moves as they selected the contract of LHP Mason Fluharty. Fluharty will be active for today’s game. They designated LHP Richard Lovelady for assignment. Finally, RHP Tommy Nance cleared waivers and has been assigned to Triple-A. Additional moves have been announced as Scherzer has been played on the 15-day injured list and Easton Lucas has been recalled for today’s game.

Mason Fluharty

Fluharty made eight appearances this spring, posting a 1.29 ERA, a 0.86 WHIP, and 11 strikeouts in seven innings. Last season at Triple-A Buffalo, he went 5-4 in 56 games, posting a 3.63 ERA, a 1.18 WHIP, and 76 strikeouts in 67 innings. 

Richard Lovelady

Lovelady has made two appearances this season going 0-1 with a 21.60 ERA, a 2.40 WHIP, and three strikeouts in 1.2 innings. He came in yesterday for Scherzer and gave up four runs on two hits in his lone inning. Lovelady walked one and struck out two.

Tommy Nance 

Nance this spring in six games posting a 5.06 ERA, a 2.25 WHIP, and six strikeouts in 5.1 innings. Last season for Toronto in 20 games he went 0-3 with a 4.09 ERA, a 1.23 WHIP, and 19 strikeouts in 22 innings.

Max Scherzer

Scherzer went three innings giving up two runs on three hits. He didn’t issue a walk and struck out one.

Easton Lucas

Lucas this spring made four appearances with three coming as starts going 0-1 with a 8.64 ERA, a 1.68 WHIP, and seven strikeouts in 8.1 innings.
