Toronto Blue Jays Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

The Toronto Blue Jays are currently playing the Tampa Bay Rays as they are 14-10 in Grapefruit League play. Bowden Francis is getting the start for Toronto today and he’s had a rough spring. He is 0-1 with a 9.53 ERA, a 2.03 WHIP, and 12 strikeouts in 11.1 innings. The Blue Jays are working on getting their roster down with Opening Day coming in a week. Today they optioned right-handed pitcher Jake Bloss and left-handed pitcher Josh Walker to the Buffalo Bisons in Triple-A. Bloss is their sixth-ranked prospect.

Jake Bloss

Bloss this spring in four appearances went 0-2 with a 9.00 ERA, a 1.88 WHIP, and six strikeouts in eight innings of work. Bloss was acquired in the trade with the Houston Astros that sent Yusei Kikuchi to Houston. He made eight starts for Buffalo following the trade going 0-4 with a 6.91 ERA, a 1.76 WHIP, and 25 strikeouts in 27.1 innings. He did make three starts for the Astros last season going 0-1 with a 6.94 ERA, a 1.63 WHIP, and 11 strikeouts in 11.2 innings.

Josh Walker

Walker this spring went 0-1 in seven appearances. He posted a 3.86 ERA, a 1.14 WHIP, and six strikeouts in seven innings. Last season he made ten appearances with the New York Mets posting a 5.11 ERA, a 1.54 WHIP, and 11 strikeouts in 12.1 innings. He also spent time in Triple-A with the Syracuse Mets in the Mets organization. Walker also played for the Indianapolis Indians in the Pittsburgh Pirates organization. He made 33 appearances going 2-2 with a 4.06 ERA, a 1.27 WHIP, and 50 strikeouts in 37.2 innings.
