Rangers Recall Dane Dunning from Triple-A Round Rock
The Rangers selected Dane Dunning from Triple-A Round Rock, adding a familiar face to their major league rotation. Dunning began the season with the big-league club but struggled early, prompting the team to option him in May. However, his recent performance in Round Rock forced the Rangers to take another look.
Over his seven starts since being sent down to Triple-A, Dunning posted a 3.76 ERA with 28 strikeouts across 26.1 innings. In his last five starts, he’s posting a 0.81 ERA with 25 strikeouts in 22.1 innings. He demonstrated improved command and maintained consistent velocity, which earned him another opportunity with the Rangers. His return provides much-needed experience and stability for a rotation that has dealt with both injuries and inconsistency.
Caleb Boushley Sent Back to Round Rock
To make room for Dunning on the active roster, the Rangers optioned Caleb Boushley to Triple-A Round Rock. Boushley, in 15 appearances with the Rangers this season, has a 5.04 ERA with 29 strikeouts in 30.1 innings.
Although the results were underwhelming, the Rangers still see potential in Boushley’s arm. They believe more time in Round Rock will help him refine his approach and improve his command. With the Triple-A season in full swing, Boushley will get regular innings and the chance to work his way back.

Looking Ahead
As the Rangers approach the midpoint of the season, every rotation move carries added weight. Dane Dunning’s promotion signals the organization’s desire to lean on experienced arms while keeping an eye on long-term development. At the same time, the demotion of Boushley shows that Texas remains committed to giving young pitchers time to grow in the right environment.
With several key players still working back from injury, the Rangers will likely continue making roster adjustments. For now, they hope Dunning’s return will provide a spark as they aim to climb back into contention in the AL West.
