Mere days remain until Spring Training begins.  Many of the Rangers have already arrived in Surprise, Arizona, and as of today, even more new faces will be joining the fray. Currently, the 40-man Roster is full, and the Texas Rangers have extended invitations to Spring Training to 27 non-roster players.

The non-roster invitees are as follows: Gerardo Carrillo, Diego Castillo, Jack Leiter, Daniel Robert, Blake Taylor, Emiliano Deodo, Jesus Tinoco, Jose Urena, Grant Wolfram, Liam Hicks, Andrew Knapp, Blaine Crim, Matt Duffy, Abimelec Ortiz, Jared Walsh, Davis Wendzel, Sandro Fabian, Elier Hernandez, Derek Hill, Wyatt Langford, Aaron Zavala. The Rangers quietly signed minor league deals with invitations to Spring Training to right-handed pitchers Jonathan Holder (2/1/24), Austin Pruitt (1/30/24), and Shane Greene (1/22/24).  The club announced today that three more players received minor league contracts with an invitation to Spring Training: left-handed pitcher Chase Shreve, left-handed pitcher Danny Duffy, and catcher Jose Godoy.

RHP – Jonathan Holder

Drafted by the New York Yankees in the 6th round of the 2014 Amateur Draft. Debut on September 2nd, 2016 for the Yankees. Five years in the Majors, all with the Yankees. 4.38 ERA, 157 appearances, 176.2 IP, 10-6 W/L record, zero saves, 3.85 FIP, 1.285 WHIP, 1.1 HR/9, 2.7 BB/9, 8.4 SO/9, and a career WAR of 0.4.

RHP – Austin Pruitt

Drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 9th round of the 2013 Amateur Draft. Debut on April 2nd, 2017 for the Rays. Six years in the Majors with the Tampa Bay Rays (2017-2019), Houston Astros (2021), Miami Marlins (2021), and the Oakland Athletics (2022-2023). 4.43 ERA, 150 appearances, 310.2 IP, 14-16 W/L record, six saves, 4.33 FIP, 1.262 WHIP, 1.2 HR/9, 2.1 BB/9, 6.4 SO/9 and a career WAR of 0.9.

RHP- Shane Greene

Drafted by the New York Yankees in the 15th round of the 2009 Amateur Draft. Debut on April 24th, 2014 with the Yankees. Ten years in the Majors with the New York Yankees (2014, 2022), Detroit Tigers (2015-2019), Atlanta Braves (2019-2021), Los Angeles Dodgers (2021-2022), and the Chicago Cubs (2023). 4.50 ERA, 345 appearances, 473.2 IP, 24-29 W/L record, 67 saves, 4.22 FIP, 1.334 WHIP, 1.1 HR/9, 3.3 BB/9, 8.4 SO/9 and a career WAR of 3.5.

LHP – Chase Shreve

Drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 11th round of the 2010 Amateur Draft. Debut on July 19th, 2014 for the Braves. Ten years in the Majors with the Atlanta Braves (2014), New York Yankees (2015-2018), St Louis Cardinals (2018-2019), New York Mets (2020, 2022), Pittsburgh Pirates (2021), Detroit Tigers (2023), and the Cincinnati Reds (2023). 3.97 ERA, 367 appearances, 356 IP, 22-14 W/L record, two saves, 4.69 FIP, 1.340 WHIP, 1.5 HR/9, 4.2 BB/9, 9.8 SO/9, and a career WAR of 3.5. He was a member of the 2019 American League All-Star Team.

LHP – Danny Duffy

Drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the 3rd round of the 2007 Amateur Draft. Debut May 18, 2011 with the Royals. Eleven years in the Majors, all with the Royals. 3.95 ERA, 234 appearances, 1172.1 IP, 68-68 W/L record, one save, 4.17 FIP, 1.316 WHIP, 1.1 HR/9, 3.3 BB/9, 8.0 SO/9, and a career WAR of 20.2. He was a member of the 2015 World Series Champion Kansas City Royals.

C – Jose Godoy

No draft information is available. Debut on May 21st, 2021 for the Seattle Mariners. Two years in the Majors with the Seattle Mariners (2021), Minnesota Twins (2022), and the Pittsburgh Pirates (2022). He slashed a .123/.194/.140 with five runs, seven hits, one double, zero triples or home runs, four RBIs, zero stolen bases, five walks, .334 OPS, and a career WAR of -0.4.
