Texas Rangers Prospect Check-In: Week 4

Texas Rangers Pipeline

The Texas Rangers had a relatively quiet week. Wednesday was an off day for both the Major League and Minor League camps. Thursday was a big day for our prospects, as they played the first-ever Spring Breakout game against the Cincinnati Reds. The Major League guys also played against the Reds directly following the Breakout game. The prospects on both teams showed up and showed out, but ultimately, the Reds prospects came out on top with a score of 4-1. The big league game went the opposite way, with a score of 4-7 in favor of the Rangers. Friday was a rainy day in Scottsdale to face off against the Colorado Rockies. However, the team elected to scratch most of the big leaguers in favor of minor league players to avoid further injury to our Opening Day roster players. However, the game did ultimately get rained out. Saturday, the team played their first split-squad game of Spring Training against the Milwaukie Brewers and the Arizona Diamondbacks. Neither game went the Rangers way, resulting in two losses with scores of 5-4 Diamondbacks and 5-1 Brewers. Sunday’s St. Patrick’s Day Game against the Chicago Cubs was hard fought but also resulted in another L on the board with a score of 8-6. Tuesday, the Rangers faced off against the Oakland Athletics and came away with their third tie of Cactus League play. The Rangers have a current Cactus League record of 10-12-3.
