St. Louis Cardinals Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

The Cardinals are on a five game win streak. They are entering their new three game series with the Washington Nationals in Washington, D.C. The Cardinals sit in second place in the NL Central. They have a 19-19 record. They are three games back from the Chicago Cubs. St. Louis has won seven of their last ten games. They are coming off a sweep of the Pirates and won the series before that against the New York Mets. Before the first game of this series with the Nationals, the Cardinals have announced two roster moves. They are activating catcher Ivan Herrera from the 10-day injured list. They have also optioned Luken Baker back to Memphis in Triple-A. St. Louis will look to continue their strong play and close that gap between them and the Cubs over the weekend.

Ivan Herrera

The Cardinals have activated Ivan Herrera from the 10-day injured list. In seven games this year Herrera has six runs, eight hits, two doubles, four home runs, and 11 RBI. Herrera has a .381 batting average with a 1.506 OPS through seven games this year. He was placed on the injured list back on April 7th with left knee inflammation.

Luken Baker

The Cardinals have optioned Luken Baker to the Memphis Redbirds in Triple-A. Baker has played in 19 games for the Cardinals during his call up. He has three runs, eight hits, three doubles, and two RBI. Baker has a .235 batting average and a .690 OPS this year. He will head back down to Triple-A and continue his season.
