The Cardinals head into tonight’s game with the Astros with an 8-9 record on the season. The Cardinals will look to win the series this afternoon after losing last night 2-0. Entering action today Cardinals are in fourth place in the NL Central. They are two and a half games back from the Chicago Cubs. The Cardinals head on a seven-game road trip after today’s game. They will be making a four-game stop to play the New York Mets. Then they will head south to face the Atlanta Braves for a three-game series. Before today’s game, they announced two roster moves. Matt Svanson has been called up from Triple-A to make his Major League debut.

Matt Svanson – RHP

The St. Louis Cardinals have recalled Svanson from Triple-A to make his MLB debut. Svanson has pitched in four games for the Memphis Redbirds so far this year. He has a 1.59 ERA, a 1.24 WHIP, and a .238 batting average against in Triple-A. Svanson has pitched a total of 5.2 innings this year, allowing two walks and striking out four. This spring, he pitched in three games for the Cardinals. He had one win, one loss, and a 6.00 ERA.

Roddery Munoz – RHP

The St. Louis Cardinals have optioned Munoz to Triple-A, where he will continue his season with the Memphis Redbirds. Munoz has pitched in three games for the Cardinals this season. He pitched in 2.2 innings, giving up two hits, three runs, one walk, and striking out four. Munoz leaves for Triple-A with a 10.13 ERA, a 1.13 WHIP, and a .200 batting average against.
