Probable Starting Pitchers

Tampa Bay Rays vs. New York Yankees

Game 1: Ryan Pepiot (2-3, 4.24 ERA) vs. Max Fried (5-0, 1.19 ERA)

Pepiot will toe the slab for Tampa Bay. Last time, he delivered an efficient outing, allowing just three hits across six innings. He notched his second win of the season in the Rays’ win. Fried will take the mound for New York. So far, Fried has been nearly untouchable, posting a 1.19 ERA, which ranks third in the league. Although the Rays have shown flashes of offensive firepower, they will need to be at their best to challenge Fried’s precision and command.

Game 2: Zack Littell (1-5, 5.03 ERA) vs. Clarke Schmidt (0-1, 5.52 ERA)

Littell will look to build on his most recent outing. Last time, he snapped a five-start losing streak, limiting the Padres to just two runs and five hits over five innings. Schmidt will get the nod for New York. He’s shown improvement in the Yankees’ win in Sunday’s doubleheader against Toronto despite not factoring into the decision. Schmidt allowed just one run on one hit, striking out six in five innings. If he continues that trend, New York could find itself in a strong position heading into the finale.

Game 3: Taj Bradley (2-2, 4.58 ERA) vs. Will Warren (1-1, 5.63 ERA)

Bradley goes for the Rays. Last time, Bradley pitched seven solid innings, surrendering two runs. Tampa Bay’s offense failed to provide enough support, leaving him with a no-decision. Warren will take the ball for the Yankees. He continues to show promise with swing-and-miss potential. Warren struggled with his command during a loss to Baltimore on Monday. Still, if he can limit his mistakes and stay ahead in counts, the Yankees may be able to close out the series on a high note.
