Probable Starters:
Game 1: TBD vs. Justin Verlander (0-0, 3.60 ERA)
The Mariners haven’t officially announced a starter yet. Rumors are that it could be Luis F Castillo. Castillo hasn’t pitched since 2022 in the MLB. Last season with the Orix Buffaloes he went 3-5 with a 2.96 ERA. The Giants will turn to Verlander, whose had a lot of success against the Mariners in his career. In his first start of the season, Verlander went five innings against the Reds, giving up six hits, two runs. He also walked one and struck out six.
Game 2: Bryce Miller (0-1, 4.77 ERA) vs. Robbie Ray (1-0, 5.06 ERA)
Miller will get the ball in the second game of this series. He’ll hope to get the Seattle Mariners back on track after they’ve struggled through the first seven games of the season. Though those struggles have mostly been on the offense and not the pitching. In his first start, Miller went 5.2 innings, giving up six hits, three runs; he walked two and struck out four. The Giants will have a former Mariner taking the bump. In his first start this season, he went 5.1 innings against the Reds and came away with the win, only giving up three runs in the effort.
Game 3: Bryan Woo (1-0, 1.50 ERA) Vs. Jordan Hicks (1-0, 0.00 ERA)
The Mariners will turn to Bryan Woo, who only allowed one run in his outing against the Athletics. He completed six innings, only allowing five runners on base. As of now, the Mariners’ third starter in the series is yet to be determined. The Giants will roll Hicks out there for his second start of the season. He is coming off a 1-hit, no-run outing against the Astros.

Players to Watch:
Seattle Mariners
Julio Rodríguez and Cal Raleigh had a tough first week of the season, but with Thursday’s off day, they’ve had a chance to reset. If the Mariners want to get on track and make a serious playoff push, they’ll need both of them to find their rhythm at the plate sooner rather than later. Consistency will be key, especially if they’re going to live up to their star potential.
San Francisco Giants
Heliot Ramos burst onto the scene last year and was named an All-Star for the first time in his career. He’s currently slashing .286/.286/.810 with two doubles and three home runs for the Giants this season. He’ll be looking to build off of his first full season in the bigs. He’s been a spark for San Francisco. In 2024, Ramos hit .308/.357/.769 with two home runs off the Mariners pitchers.
