Probably Starting Pitchers

Game 1: Ronel Blanco (0-0, 0.00 ERA) vs Jordan Hicks (0-0, 0.00 ERA)

The 30 year old Hicks aims for a strong start to his second campaign in the Bay Area, a year after posting a 4-7 record with a 4.10 ERA across 29 games. Toeing the rubber for the Astros is Ronel Blanco. A year after throwing a no hitter, the fourth year starter looks for a season of prolonged dominance. He seeks this after moving from a 13-6 record and a sparkling 2.80 ERA.

Game 2: Logan Webb (0-0, 5.40 ERA) vs Hayden Wesneski (0-0, 0.00 ERA)

Webb on Opening Day went five innings giving up three runs on six hits. He walked three and struck out five. Wesneski finished last season in the bullpen for the Chicago Cubs. He totaled a 3.86 ERA across 28 games in 2024.

Game 3: Landen Roupp (0-0, 0.00 ERA) vs Framber Valdez (1-0, 0.00 ERA)

Roupp, a second year pitcher, also spent the majority of 2024 as a reliever, where he tallied a 3.68 ERA in 50.1 innings. Opposite him stands Houston’s ace of staff in Valdez. Framber looks to continue his already strong career. He went seven scoreless innings on Thursday giving up four hits. Valdez walked two and struck out four.

Player to watch

San Francisco Giants

The name to keep your eye on for the Giants is Wilmer Flores. Only 2 hits on the season seem ordinary at this point. However, since both were home runs, the veteran first baseman has shown no signs of slowing down.

Houston Astros

Though aging, the 34-year-old Altuve looks to be in his offensive prime, albeit in just 3 games. The veteran INF is hitting 455 to date (5 for 12), and he seems rejuvenated amidst roster turnover in Houston.
