The Milwaukee Brewers opening day game was postponed against the New York Mets, but the season will kick off Friday. Today the Brewers made a handful of announcements regarding their roster and players who will be starting the year on the IL.

Probable Starting Pitchers

Game One: Freddy Peralta (0-0, 0.00 ERA) vs Jose Quintana (0-0, 0.00 ERA)

Peralta will get the ball on opening day for the Brewers, last year he started 30 games going 12-10 in 165.2 innings of work. He struck out 210 batters, walked 54, had a 3.86 ERA, and had a 1.12 WHIP on the year. This spring he started four games going 0-1 in 15 innings worked. He struck out 18, walked four, and had a 7.20 ERA, and a 1.67 WHIP in the spring. Jose Quintana will get the ball for the Mets to start the season. Hall pitched for the Baltimore Orioles last year he appeared in 18 games with a 3-0 record over 19.1 innings pitched from the bullpen last year. He struck out 23, walked five, had a 3.26 ERA, and a 1.19 WHIP on the year. This spring he appeared in four games, with three starts going 2-0 over 12.1 innings of work. He struck out 11, walked five, and had a 4.38 ERA, and a 1.54 WHIP this spring. Severino pitched in 19 games last year for the New York Yankees starting 18 games for them going 4-8 in 89.1 innings worked last year. He struck out 79, with a 6.65 ERA, and a 1.65 WHIP. This spring for the Mets he started four games going 2-0 over 14 innings. He struck out 12, walked one, had a 1.29 ERA, and a 0.71 WHIP this spring.

Game Three: Colin Rea (0-0, 0.00 ERA) vs Tylor Megill (0-0, 0.00 ERA)

Rae spent last year pitching for the Brewers appearing in 26 games making 22 starts on the year going 6-6 with a 4.55 ERA over 124.4 innings worked. He struck out 110, walked 38, and had a 1.19 WHIP on the year. This spring he started 5 games with a 1-0 record, 3.44 ERA over 18.1 Innings worked. He struck out 19, walked five, and had a 1.04 WHIP. Trevor started 25 games last year with a 9-8 record, 4.70 ERA, over 126.1 innings worked. He struck out 105, walked 58, and had a 1.57 WHIP. This spring he pitched in six games making five starts going 1-3 with a 3.92 ERA. He struck out 23, walked six, and had a 1.02 WHIP.

Wrap Up

The season was pushed back a day due to weather but today the Brewers and Mets will both kickoff their 2024 seasons. The Brewer’s new ace Freddy Peralta looks to shut down the Mets bats in game one. The Brewers will look to get their bats off to a hot start against veteran left Quintana. This series should provide plenty of offense while both pitching staffs try, and figure themselves out after a series of injuries and offseason departures.
