Sitting in second place in the NL West a game an a half back from the Dodgers. Before Today’s game the Padres have announced two roster moves. They have called up right-hand pitcher Stephen Kolek to make the start this afternoon from Triple-A. They have also optioned one player from Double-A to Triple-A before the start of today’s game.

Stephen Kolek
The San Diego Padres have recalled right-hand pitcher Stephen Kolek from Triple-A ahead of today’s game. Kolek has yet to pitched for the Padres this year. Last season he pitched in 42 games for the Padres. He worked in 46.2 innings with three wins and no losses. Kolek had to Holds on the year. He finished 2024 with a 5.21 ERA, a 1.52 WHIP, a .303 batting average against and 39 strikeouts. Kolek has been used as a starter in Triple-A making five starts this year. He has one win on the year and a 6.38 ERA. Kolek has pitched in 24 innings with 20 strikeouts and a 1.54 WHIP.
David Morgan
The San Diego Padres have optioned right-hand pitcher David Morgan to Triple-A. He will continue his season with the El Paso Chihuahuas. On April, 27th the Padres selected the contract or Morgan from the San Antonio Missions. Today they have optioned him to Triple-A. In Double-A he has appeared in seven games this year without recording a win or loss. He has a 3.12 ERA and a 1.15 WHIP. Morgan has two holds and 19 strikeouts in 8.2 innings of work this year in the minors.
