Rumor: Boston Red Sox Interested in Star Outfielder

Ideal 2024 Red Sox Pitching Rotation

The Boston “Interest Kings” Red Sox are at it again; despite not having a General Manager yet, the rumors continue to fly on player they are interested in, this time with speculation they are going after a superstar outfielder. The San Diego Padres have announced that they will be selling off assets after spending big last offseason and trying to overtake the Los Angeles Dodgers for the National West Division crown, but that didn’t work as they finished the season 82-80 and were 18 games out of the division and two games out of the Wild Card. One name that’s being floated is superstar Juan Soto. The Red Sox may be looking to move Alex Verdugo and readjust their outfield. Still, they do have an abundance of options out there, such as Verdugo, Jarren Duran, Wilyer Abreu, Masataka Yoshida, and Ceddanne Rafaela, so you’d have to imagine if Soto were to come to Boston, one or two of those players would be on the move maybe for a pitcher. Still, Juan Soto’s addition to the Red Sox lineup could be scary.

Juan Soto By The Numbers

Soto started his career with the Washington Nationals and won a World Series with them in 2019. He would play for the Nationals for five years before being traded to the San Diego Padres along with Josh Bell in exchange for prospect CJ Abrams, MacKenzie Gore, and Luke Voit. Soto, in his career, has a slash line of .284/.421/.524 with a .946 OPS; he has 148 doubles, 11 triples, 160 home runs, 483 RBI, 527 runs scored, 50 stolen bases, and 640 walks. Last season for the Padres, he slashed .275/.410/.519 with a .930 OPS; he had 32 doubles, one triple, 35 home runs, 109 RBI, 97 runs scored, 12 stolen bases, and 132 walks. He is a three-time All-Star and finished as a runner-up for MVP in 2021.
