Pete Crow-Armstrong was born in Sherman Oaks, California, on March 25, 2002. He played high school baseball at Harvard-Westlake High School in Los Angeles, CA. He was the second-ranked outfielder and the third-ranked player in California. In his junior year in 2019, he was named the Los Angeles Times Player of the Year as he hit .395 with three home runs and 23 RBI. In his Senior year, he was hitting .514 before the season ended due to COVID. Crow-Armstrong was ranked the sixth outfielder in the country and the 15th overall player. He committed to play college baseball at Vanderbilt University.

In the 2023 season, he played for Double-A Tennessee and Triple-A Iowa before making his big league debut with the Cubs.
