
Max Clark was born in Franklin, Indiana, on December 21, 2004. He played high school baseball at Franklin Community High School in Franklin, IN. He was the first-ranked outfielder and the first-ranked overall player in Indiana.
In his sophomore year, Clark hit .450 with 36 hits, three doubles, three triples, six home runs, 30 RBI, 34 runs scored, 31 stolen bases, and 30 walks. Clark, in his junior year, he hit .577 with 41 hits, eight doubles, two triples, nine home runs, 32 RBI, 41 runs scored, 22 stolen bases, and 31 walks. In his senior year, he hit .646 with 42 hits, nine doubles, five triples, six home runs, 33 RBI, 45 runs scored, 35 stolen bases, and 52 walks. He finished his high school career hitting .551 with 119 hits, 20 doubles, ten triples, 21 home runs, 95 RBI, 120 runs scored, 88 stolen bases, and 113 walks. He also pitched, making 15 appearances and going 8-0 with a 0.74 ERA and 159 strikeouts.
Clark was ranked the country’s second outfielder and the second-ranked overall player. He committed to play college baseball at Vanderbilt University.

Clark was the fifth-ranked prospect entering the 2023 draft. The Detroit Tigers would draft Clark with the third overall pick, and he signed forgoing Vanderbilt.

In his first season in the Tigers organization, Clark played for their rookie ball team and Single-A Lakeland. He appeared in 23 games, slashing .224/.383/.377 with a .760 OPS; he had five doubles, one triple, two home runs, 19 RBI, 18 runs scored, five stolen bases, and 21 walks.
2024
Clark in 2024 played at Single-A Lakeland and High-A West Michigan. At Lakeland, in 73 games he hit .286 with a .807 OPS. Clark had 11 doubles, three triples, seven home runs, 58 RBI, 55 runs scored, 26 stolen bases, and 48 walks. At High-A in 34 games he hit .264 with a .765 OPS. Clark had ten doubles, three triples, two home runs, 17 RBI, 20 runs scored, three stolen bases, and 13 walks.
