Jett Williams was born in Dallas, Texas, on November 3, 2003. He played high school baseball at Rockwall-Heath High School in Heath, TX. He was the top-ranked shortstop in Texas and the top overall player in the state in 2022. Williams in his junior year hit .347 with five home runs and 38 RBI, in his senior season he hit .411 with seven home runs and 41 RBI.  Williams was the fifth-ranked shortstop and the 20th overall player in the country. He committed to play college baseball at Mississippi State University.

Williams entering the 2022 draft was the 21st-ranked player and the 11th-ranked high school prospect. He was drafted by the New York Mets with the 14th overall pick.

Williams played for the Mets rookie league team and in ten games he slashed .250/.366/.438 with a .803 OPS; he had one double, one triple, one home run, six RBI, seven runs scored, six stolen bases, and four walks.

Williams started the season as the 98th-ranked prospect by Baseball America. He played at Single-A St. Lucie, High-A Brooklyn, and Double-A Binghamton. In 121 games he slashed .263/.425/.451 with a .876 OPS; he had 22 doubles, eight triples, 13 home runs, 55 RBI, 81 runs scored, 45 stolen bases, and 104 walks.

ITD ranks Williams as the 52nd overall prospect and the Mets second-ranked prospect. He will likely start in 2024 at Double-A.
