Dylan Lesko was born in Atlanta, Georgia on September 7, 2003. He played high school baseball at Buford High School in Buford, GA. He was the number one-ranked RHP and the third-ranked overall player in Georgia. At Buford he went 11-0 with a 0.35 ERA and 112 strikeouts in 60 innings, he was also named the Gwinnett Daily Post Baseball Pitcher of the Year. Lesko was ranked the top RHP in the country and the fourth overall player. He committed to play college baseball at Vanderbilt University.

Lesko was the 14th-ranked prospect entering the 2022 draft and the seventh-ranked high school prospect. He was drafted 15th overall by the San Diego Padres.

Lesko was ranked the 69th prospect by Baseball America and 100th by MLB.com. He pitched across three levels playing for the Padres rookie league team, Single-A Lake Elsinore, and High-A Fort Wayne. He made 12 starts going 1-5 with a 5.45 ERA and 52 strikeouts in 33 innings.
