Colt Keith was born in Zanesville, Ohio, on August 14, 2001. He played his high school baseball at Biloxi High School in Biloxi, MS. He was the fifth-ranked high school player in Missouri and the 107th-ranked player in the country in 2020. In his Sophomore and Junior years, he hit .401 with 97 hits, 27 doubles, eight triples, 15 home runs, 105 RBI, and 82 runs scored combined. In his senior year, he only played in 11 games and hit .269 with seven hits, one double, eight RBI, and nine runs scored. He finished high school playing in 99 games, hitting .448 with 111 hits, 32 doubles, eight triples, 15 home runs, 122 RBI, and 103 runs scored. Keith was committed to playing his college baseball at Arizona State University.

When Was Colt Keith Drafted?

Keith was drafted in the fifth round by the Detroit Tigers. Instead of honoring his commitment to Arizona State, he chose to sign with the Tigers. He then joined their system.

Keith debuted in the Tigers system, playing across three levels for four different teams. He played for the Tigers East and Tigers West teams in rookie ball. Then, he headed to Single-A Lakeland and High-A West Michigan. Combined across all four levels he played in 65 games, and he slashed .286/.396/.393 with a .789 OPS; he had eight doubles, five triples, two home runs, 32 RBI, 41 runs scored, four stolen bases, and 41 walks. 

2022

Keith played at High-A West Michigan playing in 48 games, and he slashed .301/.370/.544 with a .914 OPS; he had 14 doubles, three triples, nine home runs, 31 RBI, 38 runs scored, four stolen bases, and 22 walks. He also played in the Arizona Fall League, and 19 games, he slashed .344/.463/.541 with a 1.004 OPS; he had three doubles, three home runs, ten RBI, 16 runs scored, three stolen bases, and 16 walks.

2023

Keith played at Double-A Erie before forcing the Tigers hand and calling him up to Triple-A Toledo during the season. He combined to play in 126 games and slashed .306/.380/.552 with a .932 OPS; he had 38 doubles, three triples, 27 home runs, 101 RBI, 88 runs scored, three stolen bases, and 60 walks. He also played in the futures game, going 1-1 and drew a walk. 

2024

Keith ranked as the 28th prospect by Baseball America and the 22nd prospect by MLB Pipeline. He played in 148 games with the Tigers hitting .260 with a .689 OPS. Keith had 15 doubles, four triples, 13 home runs, 61 RBI, and 54 runs scored.
