Carson Williams was born in San Diego, California, on June 25, 2003. He played high school baseball at Torrey Pines High School in San Diego, CA. He was the fourth-ranked shortstop and the sixth-ranked overall player in California. At Torrey Pines, he hit .397 with 77 hits, 14 doubles, two triples, 16 home runs, 47 RBI, 66 runs scored, 40 stolen bases, and 27 walks. Williams was ranked the 14th shortstop in the country and the 53rd overall player. He committed to play college baseball at the University of California, Berkeley.

Williams played for Single-A Charleston appearing in 113 games and he slashed .252/.347/.471 with a .818 OPS; he had 22 doubles, ten triples, 19 home runs, 70 RBI, 81 runs scored, 28 stolen bases, and 57 walks.

He played for High-A Bowling Green, Double-A Montgomery, and Triple-A Durham. In 115 games he slashed .258/.356/.497 with a .853 OPS; he had 21 doubles, seven triples, 23 home runs, 81 RBI, 76 runs scored, 20 stolen bases, and 59 walks. In the fall he played in the Arizona Fall League for Peoria and in 19 games he slashed .246/.366/.275 with a .641 OPS; he had two doubles, six RBI, ten runs scored, five stolen bases, and 11 walks.

ITD ranks Williams as the 25th overall prospect and the Rays second-ranked prospect. He is expected to start the season at Double-A in 2024.
