The Pittsburgh Pirates were busy today with a flurry of moves. The team optioned three players to Triple-A. They also designated one, while selecting the contract of another from Triple-A. The Pirates are setting their roster up for opening day. When they travel to take on the Miami Marlins to kick off the 2025 season

Henry Davis – C/OF

The Pittsburgh Pirates have optioned Henry Davis to Triple-A where he will start his year with the Indianapolis Indians. Davis had 36 at-bats this spring and hit for a .250 batting average. He scored eight runs, had nine hits, two home runs, five RBIs, and one stolen base.

Billy Cook – 1B

The Pirates have optioned Cook to Triple-A where he will start his year with the Indianapolis Indians. Cook this spring had 25 at-bats and was hitting .160 for an average. He scored four runs, had four hits, one home run, one RBI, and stole two bases.

Nick Yorke – 2B

The Pirates have optioned Nick Yorke to Triple-A as well to start his year with the Indianapolis Indians. Yorke struggled this spring having a .206 batting average. He scored three runs and had seven hits and two RBIs.

Hunter Stratton – RHP

The Pirates have selected the contract of Stratton from the Indianapolis Indians. Stratton last year for the Pirates made 36 appearances. He had two wins and one loss. Stratton earned one save as well over 37.2 innings of work. He finished 2024 with a 3.58 ERA and a WHIP of 1.17.

Joshua Palacios – OF

The Pirates have designated Palacios for assignment. Palacios had a .211 batting average over 19 at-bats this spring with the Pirates. He played in 23 games last year for the Pirates. Palacious had a .224 batting average and a slash line of .333/.343/.676.
