Picks of the Day, Monday 7/17

Shohei Ohtani may be hitting his last home runs in Anaheim this week.

Saturday wasn’t much fun. Stroman, you strikes out 4+ almost every start, decided to pitch to contact because the Cubs had a big lead. In Toronto, Zac Gallen lost to a Blue Jays team that is starting to show some life. I knew this was a possibility, but DBacks were +115 with their Ace on the bump….I’d take it again in a second.
White Sox and Braves bailed me out with a high-scoring game and I went 1-2 on the day.
128-107 on the season:
Pick #1
Red Sox @ A’s, Total Over 8.5 runs, +100
Sox offense could cover this alone. Plus Boston has back-to back bullpen days.
Pick #2
Dodgers @ Orioles, Total Over 9.5 runs, -105
Emmet Sheehan (who?) vs Grayson Rodriguez. Two lineups that can score in bunches and two rookies pitching. The line is high, but I’m rooting for runs here.
Pick #3
Yankees @ Angels, Shohei Ohtani to hit a HR, +235
Today’s games kind of suck. This should help make one of them fun. These two teams are in such bad spots. The Yankees being in last place is an embarrassment….I truly don’t understand how Boone and Cashman have hung on to their jobs this long. I imagine they will be buyers at the deadline, but is it worth giving up the farm to try and propel this broken team to Wild Card? i would love nothing more than for Cashman to sell the farm for 2 months of Ohtani, only to see him sign elsewhere. And, the poor Angels…they had something going before all the injuries. What a shame. Do they trade Ohtani and rebuild, or keep him and pray they can re-sign him? This move will cost people jobs almost either way. If i’m the GM/president, I put a huge offer in front of him right now, and say “sign this, or we have no choice but to trade you”. It’s the right move for the franchise. Cannot risk having nothing when he signs in San Fran or with the Dodgers
