Picks of the Day, Friday 7/7

Carlos Rodon makes his Yankees Debut today against the Cubs Kim Klement- USA Today Sports

Well, what a brutal and wild day yesterday.
I took the over (8.5) on the Berrios vs. Lynn game. Two guys that have been Average to Terrible for two seasons. Both pitchers threw 7, 1-hit, shutout innings, and the game was tied 0-0 after ten innings. Then the Jays scored six runs in the 11th, followed by the White Sox scoring two more and leaving the run I needed to be stranded on third. My wife wasn’t pleased with all the yelling, but damn, that was fun and would have been an awesome cover.
Then I picked Eovaldi to record a Win. He came out in the 6th with a lead, so I was looking good until the Red Sox decided to score six runs in the 7th. I wouldn’t say I like relievers.
I don’t feel too bad about losing the Pirates money line. I picked it because the line was +195, and I figured it was a coin flip.
I need a 3-0 day today. 120-103 on the season and now only up 31.2 Units on the year.
Pick #1
Cubs @ Yankees, Total Over 8 Runs, -120
The total seems low, considering James Taillon has almost a 7.00 ERA, and Rodon hasn’t pitched all year. I know both lineups struggle, but eight is low. Rodon also seems like one of those guys that crumble under pressure at Yankee Stadium. We’ll see…
Pick #2
Mets @ Padres, Total Over 8 Runs, -105
Another low O/U line. Two underachieving teams with identical records. Both show signs of life; both scored a ton in sweeping their previous series. Verlander vs. Darvish, neither is what they used to be.
Pick #3
Zac Gallen to record Win, +120
The Diamondbacks need Gallen to be a stopper today, having lost 4 in a row. Aside from a couple of hiccups, Gallen has been one of the best pitchers in the NL. He faces the corpse of Rich Hill and a Pirates team that is plummeting down to earth.

Some great series this weekend. Braves @ Rays should be awesome. I won’t be betting on it because I want to enjoy the games. Cubs @ Yankees, Mets in SD, and Angels@ Dodgers,….enjoy!
