Picks of the Day, 5/17

I am failing at trying to grow a Strider mustache. Also, he faces a Rangers lineup today that strikes out a lot

Yesterday was one of those “I’m never betting again” days. I have no explanation for San Diego losing to Brady Singer and the 13-31 Royals, and Luis Castillo pitching like Nick Pivetta against Pivetta and the Red Sox. At least Houston and Chicago scored 10 and the over hit for me. Betting MLB has been very difficult this year. Lots of really bad teams playing hard and over-performing, and 3-4 teams that were considered World Series contenders playing below .500.

Enough bitching: 1-2 yesterday, and 69-59 on the season:
Pick #1
Twins @ Dodgers, Total Runs Under 8.5, +100
Sonny Gray and Dustin May in a day game. I love leaning on good pitching in day games. It’s much harder for hitters to see the ball on a sunny day than under the lights.
Pick #2
Spencer Strider Over 8.5 Strikeouts @ Rangers,-150
It’s too easy for Strider. He’s close to 2 Ks per inning. He has 10 or more Ks in 3 of last 4 starts. The Rangers strikeout out the 5th most in Baseball. Line isn’t great, but free money is free money, especialy after yesterday.
Pick #3
Nationals @ Marlins, National Moneyline, +105
Mackenzie Gore has been developing into what the Nats hoped he would be when they traded away Soto for him. Edward Cabrera has been inconsistent for the Marlins.
Bonus
Lordes Gurriel Jr. to hit a Home Run, +600
