Picks of the Day, 5/16

Blue Jays Pitcher Kevin Gausman in Mid-Release of Next Pitch
The Yankees were up to something last night in Toronto. Gausman doesn't let them get away with it today

Is there anything more frustrating than taking the Under on a 10 run line, having a score of 2-0 through 5, then having a bullpen injury and implosion followed by a position player pitching, and missing the Under by one run?? Well, that’s what happened in Boston last night. A pitchers duel (that I correctly predicted) turned into a shitshow. Fortunately the other two picks hit; Astros covered -1.5, and the Angels/O’s “No runs First Inning” hit for me.

2-1 yesterday, 68-57 on the season:
Pick #1
Cubs @ Astros, Over 7.5 Runs, -115
Justin Steele has been excellent for the Cubs. Christian Javier has been solid as well. for Houston. If this game was at Wrigley, I’d stay away, but the Cubs allow more runs on the road, Minutemaid Park is a launching pad, and Steele has faced fairly soft opponents thus far. Astros can hand Steele his first loss today.
Pick #2
Royals @ Padres, Padres -1.5 Run Line, -105
Brady Singer is going for the Royals which usually means lots of runs and a KC loss. The wildly disappointing Padres have to turn it on a some point, right?
Pick #3
Mariners @ Red Sox, SEA -1.5 Run Line, +100
I’m taking a chance that the good Pivetta shows up today, but to me he looks cooked. Release point is off, mechanics are off, and the expression on his face is defeated. Castillo faces a decimated Sox lineup that is batting Ramiel tapia 6th, and includes Enmanuel Valdez, and Pablo eyes. The Boston bullpen is also likely short John Schreiber and Kenley Jansen another day, and long man Josh Winckowski is showing signs of over-use.
Bonus
4 game parlay, +504: Padres, Dodgers, Orioles, and Blue Jays moneylines. Bailey Ober gets a taken down a peg in LA after a stellar debut, Padres I already mentioned, Blue Jays and Gausman aren’t letting the Yankees cheat tonight, and the O’s face a rookie with a career 5.48 ERA in the minors.
