The Philadelphia Phillies will start a three-game series against the Boston Red Sox tonight with Zack Wheeler on the mound taking on Kutter Crawford for the Red Sox. The Phillies are coming into this series off a split against the Mets in Loudon. The Phillies won on Saturday 7-2 behind another fantastic start by Ranger Suarez and Bryce Harper who went 3-4 with a double and a solo home run, as well as Whit Merrifield who hit a three-run home run in the fourth inning. On Sunday they lost 6-5 after the Mets put up three runs in the Top of the Ninth, the Phillies did get a run in the bottom half of the inning but couldn’t get another run to tie the game. Before tonight’s game, they have placed catcher J.T. Realmuto on the injured list retroactive to June 10th with Right knee pain. To replace Realmuto the Phillies have called up Rafael Marchan from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

C – J.T. Realmuto

Realmuto is in his sixth season with the Phillies and through 51 games this season he is .261 with a .782 OPS; he has eight doubles, a triple, seven home runs, 20 RBI, 28 runs scored, one stolen base, and 12 walks. During his Phillies tenure, he has played in 651 games hitting .266 with a .794 OPS; he has 129 doubles, 18 triples, 102 home runs, 355 RBI, 362 runs scored, 64 stolen bases, and 193 walks. He has been an All-Star twice, also winning two Gold Gloves and two Silver Sluggers.

C – Rafael Marchan

Marchan played for the Phillies in 2020 playing in three games going 4-8 with a home run, three RBI, three runs scored, and a walk. In 2021 he played in 20 games hitting .231 with a .632 OPS; he had a double, a triple, a home run, four RBI, seven runs scored, and four walks. This season he’s played at Single-A Clearwater and Triple-A Lehigh Valley in 13 games he’s hit .233 with a .777 OPS; he had one double, two home runs, eight RBI, four runs scored, one stolen base, and ten walks.
