Philadelphia Phillies Acquire Luis Arraez from San Francisco Giants

The Philadelphia Phillies acquired a bat for their order, and it’s a guy who just doesn’t strike out, as they’ve acquired Luis Arraez from the San Francisco Giants. They also acquired reliever Caleb Kilian. The return to the Giants is right-handed pitchers Ramon Marquez and Marty Gair. Arraez has only struck out 21 times this season in 105 games. His career high in a season is 48 in 2021. Arraez is hitting .324 with a .801 OPS. He has 23 doubles, seven triples, four home runs, 43 RBI, and 52 runs scored. He’s second in all of baseball and leads the National League in OPS. Kilian, in 45 games, is 3-6 with eight saves, a 1.33 WHIP, and 53 strikeouts in 44.1 innings.

Marquez, in Single-A and High-A, has made 12 appearances, with 11 of those coming as starts. He’s 6-1 with a 1.68 ERA, a 0.81 WHIP, and 93 strikeouts in 59 innings. Gair, in 30 games at Single-A and High-A, is 3-3. He has six saves, a 4.50 ERA, a 1.16 WHIP, and 66 strikeouts in 36 innings.

Arraez, in 945 career big league games, is hitting .318 with a .779 OPS. He has 192 doubles, 25 triples, 40 home runs, 351 RBI, and 488 runs scored. Kilian, in 53 big league appearances is 3-10 with a 6.15 ERA, a 1.59 WHIP, and 74 strikeouts in 71.2 innings. Marquez in two minor league seasons, has made 26 appearances, with 23 of those coming as starts, going 9-4 with a 3.00 ERA, a 1.02 WHIP, and 165 strikeouts in 114 innings. Gair, in two minor league seasons, has made 54 appearances, going 3-3 with six saves, a 4.43 ERA, a 1.52 WHIP, and 106 strikeouts in 63 innings.
