New York Yankees Roster Transactions | Inside The Diamonds

The New York Yankees will start a three-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks tonight. The Yankees have started the 2025 season 3-0 with a sweep of the Milwaukee Brewers. They lead all of baseball in home runs with 35, and they lead in runs scored with 36. They are averaging 12 runs per game. Ahead of tonight’s game, they made the following moves to their roster. They placed closer Devin Williams on the paternity list. Adam Ottavino and the Yankees are in an agreement on a contract. Ottavino was granted his relief by the Boston Red Sox after he was optioned to minor league camp. To make room for Ottavino on the roster, they transferred right-handed pitcher JT Brubaker from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list. He is dealing with left rib fractures.

Devin Williams

Williams, whom the Yankees acquired in the offseason for a minor leaguer and Nestor Cortes. The Yankees roughed up Cortes on Opening Day. He allowed eight runs on five hits in two innings. This was against his former team. Williams appeared in one game. He went one inning and recorded a save. Williams gave up a run on two hits. He walked one and struck out two. In 242 career games, he is 27-10 with 69 saves. He has a 1.86 ERA, a 2.39 FIP, a 1.03 WHIP, and 377 strikeouts in 236.2 innings.

Adam Ottavino

Ottavino this spring in five games went 2-0 with a 10.80 ERA, a 2.00 WHIP, and eight strikeouts in five innings. In 60 games last season with the New York Mets he went 2-2. He posted a 4.34 ERA, a 3.67 FIP, a 1.29 WHIP, and 70 strikeouts in 56 innings. In 724 career games he is 41-43 with a 3.49 ERA, a 3.61 FIP, a 1.28 WHIP, and 859 strikeouts in 743 innings.

JT Brubaker

Brubaker, in one game this spring, went one inning; he didn’t allow a run on two hits. He walked one and didn’t record a strikeout. A comebacker hit Brubaker, which caused him to leave the game. Brubaker hasn’t made his Yankees debut yet since being acquired last March from the Pittsburgh Pirates. He hasn’t pitched since 2022. Brubaker underwent Tommy John surgery in April of 2023, which caused him to miss the 2024 season. He’s appeared in 63 career games, all with the Pirates, going 9-28 with a 4.99 ERA, a 4.43 FIP, a 1.38 WHIP, and 324 strikeouts in 315.2 innings.
